Kim Delaney is an American actress best known for her role as Detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she garnered an Emmy Award. Her other credits include her performances on the drama show All My Children Philly CSI: Miami as well as Army Wives. Delaney, the only child of a United Auto Workers senior executive and a domestic worker, was raised with her four brothers and sisters. As a child, Delaney fantasized of being an official reporter for the court. The first time she began modeling was in high school and then gaining commercial opportunities when she relocated from the south of England to New York. In 1981, she appeared as an innocent teen in the film All My Children. Delaney is well-known as an actor who has appeared involved in numerous TV movies, and dramas. Her personal life unlike her professional life hasn't been a success and has not been happy. The talented actor has struggled with alcoholism as well as two failed marriages. In 2005, she lost custody of the sole child she was born with.
