Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on April 26th in 1991. She's an American singer-songwriter and the first artist signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. Her first EP, Pho which was released on 21 October 2016 was released through Dreamville Records. Her career began to grow in notoriety. Her debut studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox has been uploading her music since 2012 with her release of her debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. In 2014, she released more music via the Internet including Bound. The song was included in Omen's Elephant Eyes as well as from Sweat It Out, on July 21 in 2015. J. Cole had her sing her songs to the Dreamville Team later that year because he was hoping for Rihanna to be able work together on a few references. Her announcement to be signed to Dreamville Records was made on the 8th of December. She made an appearance on the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II featuring the track Backseat Cozz. The 21st of October, 2016, her debut EP was released under the name Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's song Change and was an opening act on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. The year 2018 saw Ari Lennox appeared on two tracks featuring EarthGang, on Nothing but the Best, and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox's first album Shea Butter Baby was released on July 16, 2018. The first single, called Whipped Cream The album's first single, Whipped Cream dropped on September 5, 2018 with an accompanying music video. Then on November 9, she released two additional singles, 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. Two singles more were released by her on November 13, titled Pedigree and No One. Shea Butter Baby was released as her first single on February 26, 2019, for her album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby appeared along with Cole on the Creed II sound track on the 16th of November. A music video was released on 20 February 2019 to go along with the track. Within one time, it was viewed more than 3 million views. In December of 2018 she performed on her From East Atlanta With Love Tour featuring 6LACK.
